Celebrate Me!

I'm pretty good, How are You?

Sally Russick of Focus on Life set us a task for this week:"Celebrate You."  We were to document a moment of our lives, to celebrate it. Well, I always have to give things my own twist, so I documented the moments leading to and leading from my work day (which I am not allowed to document.)

Let's go for a walk.

Here we go.

Did I forget to brush my hair?

Arriving at work
Leaving for home!! Weekend!

What parts of their lives have the others chosen to celebrate?

Focus on Life: Let's Celebrate - Celebrate Sweetness!

Some Random Sweetness From My Day!

This week's Focus on Life prompt asks us to show some sweetness. I had already decided: NO MORE FOOD! So, I just kept my eye out for the sweetness around me. Here's what I found.

Sweet kitty Merry

Bebop says sweetly, "You gonna give me the cookie, or what?"

Wild Roses, so sweet!

Random yellow flower, pretty sweet.

Let's see what others did with Sally Russick's  prompt.

Let's Celebrate! Celebrate the Season.

More Food. Summer's bounty!

Can you handle another week of food pics? This is the way I celebrate the season. Sally Russick sent us another celebration prompt for this week's inspiration. I found a way to get even fresher produce than the Farmer's Market ...because this is the farm where they are grown, and it's right down the road from where I work.

Garlic scapes, shell peas, and green beans. and a peek at the lettuce

My friend Lynn and her daughter Tyler help out every Tuesday

Had to sneak in a picture of the summer bounty I have produced with the help of Heather Powers of Humble beads. I am taking her Art of Color Polymer Clay Bootcamp Class.

What other summer celebrations have we found?

Focus on Life: Let's Celebrate! - Celebrations

What to give a friend who has turned 50?

That is the dilemma we had at work several times this year. We came up with a breakfast - and it happened twice. First, L gave a breakfast for K's birthday, and then K organized one for L when she turned 50.

We coworkers each brought something, and I had seen these "fruit cakes" on the internet. They really aren't all that hard to do, and look and taste wonderful.

The pictures of my offerings seemed perfect for this week's Focus on Life "Celebrate!" prompt, kicking off our monthly theme: "Let's Celebrate." I might even make one of these for my family later in the holiday weekend - right now I am preparing for an arts show.

For K's birthday. My first try!
Really love the blackberries.

My second try, for L. I got fancy and made a filling.

Thanks to the Internet, and aspic cutters, I made quite an impression.  I liked playing with framing and background colors of the images in PicMonkey too.

Let's see if anyone else has come up with a tasty celebration image.

Focus on Life: Finding the Fun in Photography - Free!!!!

We get a free choice day.

Sally Russick set our prompt as "Free Space" for this week's Focus on Life. I just drifted around Friday afternoon, and this is what I found.

Let's see what the others have found.

Focus on life: Finding the Fun in Photography - Be Colorful

I Have Been playing with Color since Monday!!

Colorful:
a)full of interest; lively and exciting.
b)having much or varied color; bright.

This week I have been participating in Heather Powers' Art of Color Polymer Clay Boot Camp, learning to mix clay colors, create color palettes, and best of all...making beads!

So When Sally Russick sent us our prompt for Focus on Life, I was all in on Being Colorful!

First a little Color Theory:

Here are two color wheels we constructed from either cyan, yellow and magenta, or red, yellow and blue.

Then, we took complimentary colors from one of the wheels, and constructed a complementary palette.

We mixed the colors chosen with black, white, gray, and each other.

After doing a few test beads, I tried making some beads that coordinate with a scarf I like.

Two sections of the scarf.

And here are the beads that were inspired by the colors of the scarf.

Hey, I like them!

Let's see what aspects of color the others have worked with. If you are interested in finding out more about Heather's class, you can visit her website HumbleBeads.

Focus on Life: Fun with Photography

Just Having fun with it!

Our Focus on Life theme for this month is Finding the Fun in Photography. This week Sally Russick, of Sally Elizabeth, just asked us to "Have Fun With It."

Frankly, I was just getting through from day to day this week, not having much fun, and it was raining most of the time to boot. When I set out to capture these pictures Friday evening, I forgot to take my camera, and took them all with my phone. But somewhere around 11:00 PM, after struggling with getting the phone pictures onto the computer...the fun kicked in, and I started appreciating my task. Finally!!

What can be more fun than a Carnival? The recent wet weather kept the crowds away, but as the night wore on, and the weather improved... I'm sure fun was had. In the meantime, here is the fun that I found, taking photos and playing in PicMonkey.

This is what happens when I start having...FUN.

I like the "Close Encounters" effect on the middle one in this set!

Oh, before I forget...Last week's Focus on Life post featured my daughter wearing this costume.

The costume is a humanized version of the Pokemon, Gloom, seen here.

The thing on her head is not a jellyfish. It is obviously part of Gloom's head.  The jellyfish was on a costume that I had not seen yet at the time. It was way cooler, and actually looked like a jellyfish.

Let's see what fun the others have made!
