Week One: One subject photo
As much as I enjoyed last year's photo challenge, Focus on Life, organized by Sally Russick of The Studio Sublime, I think this year's project will be more challenging and more fun. This year, each month will have a theme - this month's theme is Minimalism, an art and photography concept that concentrates on the "bare minimum."
This week, we were to choose one subject for our photo.
This week, we were to choose one subject for our photo.
I really wanted to capture a single icicle, but we didn't get the right weather until right at deadline. I'll be playing with that idea again, I'm sure.
I didn't try for the spooky effect, it just happened. |
For now, I'm presenting a little taste of what made New Year's Eve special.
The most unusual angle I tried. |
Let's see what others have found.....
I love the 'spooky' effect! I really do!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool picture! Perfect to see in the new year. Hope you capture your icicle. Wayyyy too hot here for ice.
ReplyDeleteNice shadows! I had to use a flash with my picture, the weather has been so crappy. We don't have very many icicles yet it's been way too cold here!
ReplyDeleteThese are both really cool pictures!!! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI really like the shadow effect you achieved with your hoot.
ReplyDeleteWell, there will still be lots more icicle weather to come that's for sure! Christmas eve as we pulled up to my in-laws I noticed the neighbor's house was just covered in ones all about 2 to 3 feet long!! Beautiful, but I was immediately worried that this guy probably has some major foundation issues if he gets that much water that close to his house! Anyways, bubbly is always appreciated, I love the second shot especially
ReplyDeleteGreat insight, and wonderful photos Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI like that mysterious effect and also the angle of the second photo.
ReplyDeleteTotally cool shots! Very creative and I do love those shadows. You are right though, that angle on the second one is indeed unique - I love it!
ReplyDeleteThese are great photos, I love the unusual angle! And the ghost effect!
ReplyDeleteWe're having icicle weather right now....again.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of your New Year toast
I like the spooky effect in the first photo. Sometimes we get lucky with our photography without even trying. The trick is to capture that same effect another time when you WANT to. LOL
ReplyDeleteWay cool spooky Beti
ReplyDeleteI can send you some extra icicles - we've had extreme cold weather (record breaking too) :)
ReplyDeleteLove your subject - very fitting for both the holidays and the January theme! minimalist celebration must have champagne :)
Excellent photos, the unusual angle is really interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting angle in your second shot. Nice job")
ReplyDeleteA great photo, Beti!
ReplyDeleteAnd a very Happy New Year :)
Forgot to say, I love your new blog header!!
ReplyDeleteI changed the template and header, on a whim in the middle of the day yesterday. The header was just old, and needed a new look, and the color was getting annoying. Thanks for your comment. You can see I was not ready to give up the picture of Haruko wearing the necklace I made for my first Bead Soup Blog Hop.
DeleteGreat job, Beti! LOVE the one taken from the top....
ReplyDeleteI had to visit your blog just to see what the picture was. Never would have guessed a wine glass!! Excellent.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, great subject matter, and I love the shadow!
