Focus on Life: Outside - Lazy days of summer.

Where are all the lazy ones?

Our prompt for today's Focus on Life theme is Lazy Days of Summer.

Only, I had some trouble finding anyone being lazy recently. Busy, busy busy. We have even had some cooler than normal weather lately.

So, here are my submissions.

Shots that, I hope, make us take a lazy second look.

Focus On Life: Outside - About the Ground

Looking down from the Bridge.

This week Sally Russick sent us the prompt "About the Ground."  So after focusing on looking up last week, we are going to be looking at the ground his week for "Focus on Life."

Almost every day I walk across the bridge across from my house. I always look down, but sometimes I get a bit of a surprise.

Not sure how these logs go to be lined up this way, but you can really see them when the water is low.

Fishers, sometimes called fisher cats, playing on the logs.

A cardinal flower.

Fancy meeting you here!

Anyone else looking down this week?

Focus on Life: Outside - Look Up!

....what I found there.

Look there, up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane... oh, it is a plane!

Our Focus on Life prompt for this week is "The View of Above."

Last weekend, I was walking past our tiny local airport and saw two people tinkering with an ultralight aircraft. I watched for a while, but they seemed to be more interested in tinkering than flying, so I walked on. Of course I was wrong. I looked up and there was the ultralight. They take off really quick!

Pre-flight Check.

Another angle.

There she goes!
And since I can't leave well enough alone.......

This morning's sky.

Let's see what is over our friends' heads!

Focus on Life: Outside-Getting my Fresh Air

While Getting Some Fresh Air and Sunshine, I Try to Keep My Eyes Open

The Focus on Life theme for August is Outside, and this week we are encouraged to get some Fresh Air!

So here are some colorful sights I found while I was "taking the air."

This cardinal was pretty shy, I couldn't get too close.

One of my favorites, wild chicory.

Blue herons hang out at our stream, waiting for fish.
Same bird, different pose.

Another day,

A goldfinch, cooperating for once.

Another favorite, queen Ann's lace.

Let's get some more FRESH AIR!

Focus on Life: Outside - Outside the Box

Thinking outside the box....Literally? Figuratively?

August's Focus on life theme is "Outside." And this week's prompt is "Outside the Box."

One of my least favorite Late 20th Century Catch Phrases. "Thinking Outside the Box." Usually meant that the supervisor could not think of a solution to your problem, and you were just going to have to "Think Outside the Box" to solve it.

But in this context, it can mean...anything. I looked through some recent shots and came up with these.

An actual box. These Bluebird Boxes contributed to the return of New York State's Official State Bird from near extinction.

Plants growing in a creative place, the sawed-off
"stump" of a power pole.

My favorite farm market was giving away potatoes. They happened to be purple. Viola! Purple potato salad. Dressed with lemon juice and olive oil.

So these are the pictures I chose because they illustrate something whether thought out, or accidentally; ending up out of the box.

What else can be said to be "Out of the Box?"
